The map above has been shared during many meetings, in both Association and County settings, and with the local media. It has been marked up here to indicate which mines/quarries exist where and to inform on current status or legal action.

For reference, the top-center area is the southern end of Wedington Woods subdivision, and mines/quarries B through F exist in an area of 3.2 square miles.

A.        Heritage Farms:

A lawsuit against Washington County (72CV-19-1297) was filed by MMSW, LLC dba Heritage Farms on 5/21/2019 after the Quorum Court denied their CUP. Several area residents and the Highland Community Association filed to intervene alongside Washington County. The Circuit Court upheld the decision of the Quorum Court on 3/17/21. The Circuit Court judge’s decision has been appealed under case number CV-21-282. They continue to extract materials under a stormwater construction general permit for Heritage Farms/Hillside Pit (ARR156177). B.        Les Rogers:

            This entity has been in near-continuous operation since the late 1990’s. Current permitted operations, that include a contracted area north of their property line, are for mining of sand & gravel, mining of clay, and discharge from a process water pond for washing of mined materials.

C.        Eco-Friendly:

A Petition for Mandamus relief against Washington County (72CV-22-3015) was filed by Terri Davis-Beaupre on 11/15/22. The court documents can be viewed here, https://caseinfo.arcourts.gov/opad/case/72CV-22-3015

D.        Wedington Mine LLC (shown with yellow stripes):

A lawsuit against Washington County was filed (72CV-19-3348) by Wedington Mine LLC on 12/19/19 after the Quorum Court denied their CUP. Several area residents filed to intervene alongside Washington County. The Circuit Court upheld the decision of the Quorum Court on 12/10/20. They continue to extract materials under a general stormwater permit (AR150000) with an assigned AFIN of 88-00925 after an “agricultural exclusion” was granted by Brian Lester, the county’s attorney. E.         Hunt-Rogers (aka Farmington Rock Quarry) expansion:

F.         Luttrell Red Dirt Pit:

            This site is currently in operation as a “borrow pit” only. ADEQ has yet to receive a “Notice of Termination”.
